At an antiquary in London, I fell in love with four Windsor chairs.
Light, minimalist, absolutely alike but each one with different proportions and shapes. The antique dealer presented them to me as a chairs’ family, even if each one of them had its own personality, in spite of their differences. The severity of the biggest one, the charm of the middle one and the joy of the small ones, they seemed to live a common history. This history gave me the inspiration for imagining Plinio chairs.The backrest is of an original design which is not made of composite but of three layers of heavy oak, three millimeter thick, which have been bowed with the use of oil, which is an old fashioned method that ensures that the wood remains light and resilient. Pure linseed oil is used to treat the wood, to enhance the grain but also to make it water repellent as well as improve the gloss and generally prolong the life of the product.
